Expertini and the Google AdSense Ecosystem
Advertising is what keeps Expertini free for job seekers and affordable for small employers. Google AdSense is the only ad network we use — here is exactly how that works, and where ads never appear.
Most companies treat advertising as something to apologise for. We would rather explain it, because the arrangement is genuinely straightforward: Google AdSense pays for the parts of Expertini that nobody is charged for. Every job seeker who searches, applies, scores a CV or practises an interview does so without paying, and without being sold anything. Ads are what makes that possible.
Expertini has been an ad-supported job board since 2008. In 2026 Google published Expertini's story on its own Google for Publishers site — a recognition we did not pay for and could not buy, and one we are frankly proud of.

01Featured by Google
Google's publisher story, titled "Expertini is helping to connect talent with opportunity", describes the platform Ahsan Habibi Syed founded in November 2008 and the role AdSense plays in keeping it free. By Google's account, the network serves over 700,000 monthly visitors, carries more than 100,000 live job postings and operates across 150+ countries, with particular strength in the UK, United States, India, Canada, the UAE and Australia.
Those are Google's figures about the Expertini job network, reproduced as Google published them rather than restated as our own marketing. The story is public: read it on Google for Publishers.
The sentence from it we would stand behind most plainly is the founder's: *"Ads are our only source of revenue. If we did not have Google AdSense, we would not have been able to make it."* That was true in 2008 and it remains true today.
02Why AdSense, and only AdSense
One ad network, across the entire Expertini family. Not a mediation stack, not a dozen demand partners bidding through header code we cannot inspect, not a chain of resellers who each take a margin and each drop a cookie. One relationship, one set of policies, one company accountable for what renders on our pages.
That is a deliberate choice with a real cost — a mediated setup would very likely earn more per impression. It also means every ad on an Expertini page comes from a network with published content policies, a functioning appeals process, and a direct interest in not showing something unsuitable beside a job posting. When the alternative is a supply chain nobody can fully audit, the simpler arrangement is worth the difference.
Integration has been the least troublesome part of the platform. As the Google story records, AdSense was straightforward to put in place — which for a small team is not a minor virtue. Engineering time we do not spend on ad plumbing is engineering time spent on hiring tools.
03What ads pay for
Free job search, free applications, free Resume Score checks, the Career Development Navigator, salary benchmarking, interview practice, and a 7-day trial of the full ATS with no card required. None of that is charged for, and all of it costs real money to run — AI inference, storage, bandwidth, and servers in Germany and Finland.
Ad revenue also subsidises the lower paid tiers. Starter exists at $11.99/month because advertising carries part of the load; without it, the entry price would have to be considerably higher, which would exclude exactly the small employers the plan is designed for.
04Where ads never appear
**Professional, Business and Enterprise subscribers see no advertising at all.** Ad-free browsing is a listed inclusion of those plans, and the check runs before any ad code is placed on the page — not as a CSS rule that hides something already loaded.
**No ads on any page showing a person's data.** Talent Search, the candidate pipeline, candidate records, CV viewing, interview notes, assessments, offer letters and the export centre carry no advertising on any plan, paid or free. A recruiter reading someone's CV is not on a page that also loads an ad network.
**No ads in the candidate application flow.** Someone applying for a job through Expertini is not inventory.
**No candidate data ever reaches the ad network.** No name, email address, CV content, score or pipeline detail is passed to Google's advertising systems. The full detail, including which cookies are set and how consent works, is in the Cookie Policy.
05Advertising we do not do
No retargeting you around the internet after you leave. No selling or sharing of personal information to data brokers. No interstitials over content, no auto-playing video ads, no units that move as you reach for something else. Advertising cookies require your consent wherever consent is required by law, and a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser is honoured automatically as a refusal.
If you decline, ads still appear — chosen from the page's own subject matter rather than from anything about you.
06The honest trade
We would rather state the arrangement than let anyone discover it. Expertini is free for job seekers because advertisers pay for the attention of people looking for work, and because Google AdSense makes that exchange workable for a company our size. If you would prefer not to participate in it, Professional and above remove advertising entirely — and that is a real product difference, not a dark pattern dressed as one.
