Managing, Upgrading and Cancelling Your Subscription

Change plan, switch between monthly and annual, update your card, or cancel — all from your billing page, without emailing anyone.

3 min read · Updated July 2026 · Expertini Editorial

Everything about your subscription is self-service. There is no retention call, no cancellation form, and no requirement to give notice. If you want to leave, the button is on the same page as the one you used to join.

Sign in and go to Billing. Your current plan, renewal date and payment method are all shown there.

01Upgrading

Choose the higher plan on your Billing page. The change takes effect immediately — the new plan's allowances are available straight away — and Stripe charges a prorated amount for the remainder of your current period rather than a full new period.

Every limit moves with the plan: seats, CMS scores, AI prompts, resume scores and CV views all update at once. If you upgrade mid-month, the higher allowances apply to the rest of that month.

02Downgrading

Downgrades are scheduled rather than immediate, and deliberately so: you have already paid for the current period at the higher tier, so you keep those allowances until it ends. The lower plan and its limits take effect at your next renewal.

If your usage already exceeds the lower plan's allowances when it takes effect, nothing is deleted — you simply cannot consume more until the next monthly reset.

03Switching between monthly and annual

Annual billing is roughly 20% cheaper per month. The toggle at the top of the Billing page switches the view; choosing a plan on the annual side moves you to annual billing at your next renewal, or immediately with proration if you are upgrading tier at the same time.

Moving from annual back to monthly takes effect when the annual period ends — the year is already paid for.

04Updating your card

Billing → Payment methods opens the Stripe portal where you can add a new card, change the default, or remove an old one. Expertini never sees the card number at any point in that flow.

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it automatically over the following weeks and emails you a link to update the card. You do not need to do anything unless those retries also fail.

05Cancelling

Cancel from your Billing page. The subscription stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for — there is no partial-month refund, and equally no cut-off the moment you click. Cancelling any time covers the process in full, and the refund policy states the money side plainly.

Your data is not deleted when you cancel. Jobs, candidates, applications and history remain in your organisation, and you can export them at any time. If you want the account and its data removed entirely, that is a separate, explicit request — see the Privacy Policy for how to make it and what we do in response.

06What happens if you simply stop paying

If a renewal fails and every retry fails, the subscription is cancelled automatically. The outcome is the same as cancelling deliberately: access ends at the end of the paid period, and your data remains. Nothing is sent to collections and nothing is deleted.

Frequently asked questions

Will I be refunded if I cancel mid-period?
No — the subscription runs to the end of the period you have paid for, and you keep full access until then. We do not charge a partial period and do not refund one.
What happens to my candidates and jobs if I cancel?
They stay. Cancelling ends billing and access to paid features; it does not delete your organisation's data. Deletion is a separate request you have to make explicitly.
Can I pause instead of cancelling?
There is no pause state. Cancelling and re-subscribing later achieves the same thing, and your data is waiting when you return.
Do I need to give notice?
No. Cancel whenever you like; the current period simply runs its course.
Why did my downgrade not apply immediately?
Because you have already paid for the current period at the higher tier. Applying it immediately would take away allowances you have bought.
